Crossing Delancey
Isabelle "Izzy" Grossman is a smart, Jewish twenty-something working at a New York bookstore. She has a good job, a great apartment, and she’s happy to be independent and single. She’s not anxious to marry, but her grandmother Bubbie Ida wants her granddaughter to settle down with a "nice man."
While Izzy is captivated by the intellectual world of authors like Tyler Moss, Bubbie calls on a local matchmaker to set Izzy up with Sam, who owns a pickle shop. The romantic triangle that ensues reveals a clash of cultures and customs across the generations – while it shows that real love crosses all boundaries. This fun romantic comedy challenges the attitudes of both generations with wit and warmth – as Izzy eventually "crosses Delancey" to find love.

Gallic Delights
We'll warm up a Wisconsin February with a delectable bouquet of French musical gems -- from the noble tragedy of Faure's Pelleas and Melisande, with its famous solos for flute and harp, to the Gypsy fire of Philharmonic favorite Maria Bachmann, as she celebrates the solo genius of the great French-Spanish violin virtuoso of the Romantic era, Pablo de Sarasate, with his Zigeunerweisen and Carmen Fantasy. Pivoting from his immortal music for Carmen, we round out the afternoon with the sunny brilliance of Georges Bizet's equally immortal Symphony in C.

Une Grande Finale: From France to Spain
The brilliant and dashing young Spaniard Jose Franch-Ballester, clarinetist with The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, helps The Philharmonic finish up the season in grand style, celebrating the ancient and beautiful musical links between France, America and Spain. Along with his matchless renditions of Debussy's Rhapsody and the jazzy Clarinet Concerto of Aaron Copland, we'll close the season with the so-called Spanish Symphony of the Basque genius Maurice Ravel: his Alaborda del GraciosoHabanera from his Rhapsodie Espagnole, the tender Pavane for a Dead Infanta, and of course -- the Bolero!!!
