Located in an 1893 courthouse, the Waukesha County Museum is a not for profit organization, preserving and sharing the history and culture of Waukesha County. We educate and inspire visitors at every stage of learning. A new permanent exhibit, Les Paul: The Wizard of Waukesha is now open at the Waukesha County Museum. The exhibit chronicles his life as a young boy through his years of fame. Rare guitars and priceless artifacts are used to tell the inspiring story of the man who put a dent-in-the-universe by inventing the Gibson solid body electric guitar and sound-on-sound recording.

The Charles Horwitz Planetarium opened in May 2005. The sky theater is equipped with a large variety of specialized visual effects projectors which can create auroras, meteors, eclipses, lighting, rockets, hurtling through space or a journey to the surface of another world.

Relive the Spirit of America’s Heartland – Explore this premier outdoor museum of 19th century rural and immigrant farm life. Costumed interpreters perform the daily tasks of farmers and shopkeepers in more than 65 historic buildings. Nearly a dozen ethnic groups are represented at the 1870’s Crossroads Village and 10 farmsteads, stocked with many rare breeds of horses, oxen and hogs. The gardens and fields are planted with many heirloom varieties of grains, flowers, fruits, herbs and vegetables. Take a tram or walk the nature trails to enjoy the site. Oconomowoc Veterans Park is in downtown Oconomowoc on Lac La Belle. It is a tribute to all service members and includes impressive architectural components. Flags of each branch are represented, a memorial wall and memorial brick path and reflection benches are among the elements created in this park.

The purpose of the Eagle Historical Society is to collect and preserve printed materials and material objects illustrative of life, conditions, events, and activities of the past and the present, especially in the history of Eagle village and township, Waukesha County, and the surrounding area.
