Menomonee Park has significant historical background during the stone quarrying period of 1880-1890. Menomonee Park was formerly called Stone City because of the numerous homes that were constructed at the southeast end of the quarry. The Nike site property was conveyed to Waukesha County in 1963 for public and recreational purposes.
