The Delafield Fish Hatchery sports complex is an 11 acre park located in downtown Delafield. It borders the Bark River. It contains facilities for baseball, softball, soccer, volleyball, covered picnic shelter, and a playground.
The Delafield Fish Hatchery is a historic building. It was constructed in 1907. It is used for civic, and public meetings and events. The Park and Recreation department of the city used this facility for recreational activities.
This building is also the Chentis-Krueger Community Senior Center. Constructed in 1907, the impressive Delafield Fish Hatchery stands as a reminder of Wisconsin’s dependence upon its plentiful fishing waters. In the early 20th century, Wisconsin’s growing concern over lake and stream fish depletion led to a state fish hatchery program for propagating fish. The Delafield Fish Hatchery was the second hatchery built under this program. Originally comprised of 32 acres, the hatchery was designed by State Architect John T. W. Jennings. The grounds included six holding ponds, 1,430 feet of pipe line and the hatchery building. The building is superbly constructed of fieldstone walls, split and chosen for their color and texture. Two interior concrete tanks were once used to hatch walleye-pike eggs while bass fish eggs were hatched in two ponds on the property. Fish fry (baby fish) were transported to nearby lakes and streams by electric railway.
The Delafield Fish Hatchery was used until 1953 when it was converted into a research center. In 1980, the hatchery and surrounding parks were deeded by the state to the city for public recreation.
Fireman’s Park is a 7.5 acre community park. This park offers open space, playground equipment, baseball and softball facilities, restrooms, basketball court, and off street parking. This park houses some of the most popular play equipment in the city.
Shelter available. The shelter can be reserved by completing an application on the Village of Nashotah website. The non-refundable reservation fee is $50.
Sports equipment (volleyball, soccer ball, basketball, horse shoes) is available for use at no charge when reserving the shelter with a refundable $50 deposit.

Cushing Memorial Park is an 8.8 acre community park. It contains open space, walking and hiking traails, a civil war memorial, picnic facilities, a soccer field, and fishing areas. This park is the location of FORT CUSHING PLAYGROUND, an expansive and very popular play structure. Historical war monuments are a must see in this park that is an excellent picnic location. This park provides connections to the Veteran’s Memorial River walk, the Lake Country Bike trail, and the new Cushing Park Road bike trail.

An 1846 Greek Revival Stage Coach inn with 18 rooms authentically restored and furnished with Federal, American, Empire and Early Victorian antiques. On National Register of Historical Places. History As many local school children have been discovering for years, The Hawks Inn is a great place to go to learn more about the history of Delafield. History of Delafield, WI – est. 1843 Wisconsin, originally known as the Michigan Territory, began its settlement in the early nineteenth century when the government offered land at a price of one dollar and twenty-five cents per acre. The area which is now Delafield was dotted with sparkling lakes, clear river streams and hardwood forests. Seasonal fishing and hunting camps of several Indian tribes could be found on the shores of the lakes and streams. Cabins were first settled on this rolling landscape in 1839. Other settlers, including farmers and merchants, soon followed. herds of sheep began to graze the gentle hills as grist and saw mills appeared along the streams. Perhaps Delafield’s most famous settler was Nelson Hawks who moved here with his family from the state of New York. Mr. Hawks soon built a three story inn as a stage coach stop in 1846. Recognized by the National Register of Historic Places, the Hawks Inn still stands today as an educational museum. Mr. Hawks named this little settlement Delafield and in 1848, the Michigan territory became the state of Wisconsin. Today this historic community thrives with over six thousand residents.
Well known for its swimming beach located around a man made lake. Families can enjoy a day of swimming, pedal boating or scuba diving. Year around, walkers can enjoy the paved trail that curves around the lake.
A Brookfield Landmark
This stately Greek Revival Inn, once stood at the corner of Bluemound and Watertown Plank Roads. It was built in 1842 by Talbot Dousman, whose brother’s son Hercules, later built the Villa Louis in Prairie du Chien.
In 1857, Daniel Brown purchased the property and ran it as a stagecoach inn to accommodate travelers using the plank road that ran from Milwaukee to Watertown, Wisconsin.
After 1875, railroads supplanted stagecoach travel and the inn became a farm owned by Frederick Zimdars. From 1887 to 1980, its owners were Charles Dunkel and his descendent, John Behling. John Behling donated the inn to the City of Brookfield who leased it to the Elmbrook Historical Society.
In 1981, the inn was moved by the Elmbrook Historical Society to its current location at 1075 Pilgrim Parkway in Brookfield, Wisconsin.
Since then, society volunteers have restored and furnished the Inn with beautiful authentic antiques to the period when it was a stagecoach inn. In addition, outbuildings have been added: The Donaldson Visitor’s Center/Gift Shop which was originally a 1852 log cabin, an Ice House, a Smoke House, a Wagon/Blacksmith Shop, and the Old Woodside School Bell Tower.
